I, Ninja Kaede, have recently chosen to adopt a straightforward approach, akin to that of a diligent office worker. I find myself internally questioning the rigidity of societal expectations: "Walk within the lines," "Maintain proper timing." Was such rigidity commonplace two centuries ago? At least within the red-light districts, everyone appeared earnest and committed. Of course, it is youth that blurs the line between the mundane and the extraordinary.

I refuse to conform to the traditional roles of a Samurai or a Buddhist monk. Unlike Samurai who march at dawn at six o'clock—steadfast and independent of the crowd—they walk on their own path. I identify as a Ninja. Neither a Samurai nor a Monk. I am adaptable, moving through the night and listening during midday. Yet, observing the world around me reveals a stark contrast.

To become a true professional, I recognize that I must refine my techniques further. Am I truly dedicated to my training? How much of the Ninja arts have I mastered? Though I know I must continue, I often find myself mimicking monks or samurai out of complacency.

I feel lost and uncertain. It is evident that I need to complete my training by year's end. In Western terms, this period resembles a crisis amidst societal decline—an echo of nostalgia for simpler times.
